This collection includes drafts, notes, and source material by the author, children's librarian, and professional storyteller Barbara Baumgartner, for her book "Crocodile! Crocodile! Stories Told Around the World" (1994). The collection also includes correspondence between Baumgartner and her literary agent, and puppets used in the performance of one of the folktales.

Barbara Baumgartner was born September 9, 1939, in Wilmington, Delaware, and spent most of her life in the Philadelphia area. After working for years as a children's librarian at the Free Library of Philadelphia, she pursued a Ph.D. in Storytelling and Education. She taught courses on children's literature and conducts storytelling workshops around the area, focusing on folktales from world cultures. She has published four books of stories and folktales.
